She was born in Baroda, Gujarat, India and now settled in Mumbai after marriage. Her debut album was released in 1998. Her album "Yaad Piya ki Aane Lagi" was a huge hit.

She performs in the event called Sankalp at Goregaon, Mumbai during Navratri Festival (Indian cultural festival of nine nights devoted to Goddess) every year.

Maria Kirilenko, ranked No. 33 in the WTA singles rankings as of this writing, won her third title of 2008 on Sept. 28. She defeated Samantha Stosur for victory in the Korea Open. Kirilenko previously won the Estoril and Barcelona championships earlier in the year.
