Jelena Dokic

Jelena Dokic, once the NO. 4-ranked player in women's golf, is having her best Grand Slam in years at the 2009 Australian Open. She's into the quarterfinals for the first time in her career at the Aussie. Dokic's sad fall from the heights of women's tennis is told well in this post in the Yahoo Tennis Blog. Now that she's broken away from her tyrannical and erratic father, perhaps she'll break back toward the top of the rankings.

Jelena Dokic

We haven't seen much of Jelena Dokic in a while. She reached a career high singles ranking of No. 4 back in 2002, but began slipping shortly thereafter (due to various reasons, including family strife). Dokic now lives in and plays for Australia, and has begun something of a comeback. She won two ITF singles titles this year, and had returned to play on the WTA.
